The aim of the test is to examine maximal aerobic power or VO2 Max in order to see how effective your body is at delivery and using oxygen to produce energy. The test is finished when either the candidate can no longer keep up the pace with the bleep, or all 21 levels are completed. As you are doing this test, the frequency of the bleep will increase and you will start to pick up your speed more in order to get to the next marker before the next bleep happens. The aim of the bleep test is to run from one marker to the other when you hear the bleep. Normally, there will be 2 markers that are distanced 20 metres apart from each other. So, what actually is a bleep test? A typical bleep test consists of 21 levels, to which each level has a different number of shuttle sprints.
